How to make Taiyaki Video
Tips:
- Peek by opening the pan slightly to check if the batter is cooked (light - golden brown). Opening all the way before the batter is cooked may break open the taiyaki.
- Uncooked batter will stick so give it a minute to cook; however, cooked batter could stick if the filling leaked out. If your taiyaki is stuck, use a non-metal utensil to gently lift the taiyaki out of the pan.
- Don't stress if your first taiyaki isn't perfect! Your next will be better!

Prepare the Batter
- Add corn oil, sake, water, and Taiyookie™ Premium Taiyaki Mix into a bowl.
- Whisk until smooth with no lumps. Let rest for 10 minutes.
- Transfer the batter into the dispenser for easy pouring.
Make the Taiyaki
- Preheat the Taiyaki Pan: Place the pan over medium heat and let it warm up for 2-3 minutes.
- Pour the Batter: Pour batter into one side of the pan, filling about 50% of the mold (1/4 inch from the top edge). Let the batter cook for a few seconds until it starts to set.
- Add the Filling: Spoon a small amount of the filling into the center of the batter (approx. 2 tbsp). Avoid spreading the filling too close to the edges.
- Cover with Batter: Pour batter on top of the filling. It is important to make sure the mold and filling are all fully covered (enough batter to be level with the top edge).
- Close and Cook: Close the pan gently. While firmly closing the mold, flip the pan and cook for 2–3 minutes on medium-low heat; then flip again and cook for 2-3 minutes. Note: depending on your stove and temperature, you may need to flip in 30 second intervals.
- Check and Serve: Open the pan slightly to check the color. If golden brown, remove the taiyaki. Otherwise, allow it to cook in 20 second intervals. Let it cool for a minute before enjoying!
