Our Story
Chris and Nancy love to cook and always enjoyed hosting food parties with family and foodie friends. After spending months in Japan and Korea, Chris decided to buy a taiyaki machine and tried to treat Nancy's family to croissant taiyaki.
Unfortunately the croissants were undercooked and too thick, but this blossomed into Chris and Nancy testing out different batters and fillings - where they enjoyed the recipe development process together.
After watching the viral croissant cookie dough on TikTok, Nancy wanted to add cookie dough into Taiyaki... and that's when Taiyookie was born!
July 5, 2024 was the first time Chris and Nancy has ever sold food - and they launched their Taiyaki at the 626 Night Market in Arcadia. This was the first time the world has seen such unique Taiyaki flavors including savory fillings like pizza, galbi jjim, birria, and spam musubi. And Taiyookie flavors: nutella chocolate chip, red bean matcha with mochi, and ube taro white chocolate chip.
